At NXT Takeover Blackpool, the 22-year-old, British based Australian star, Toni Storm defeated Rhea Ripley in a rematch for the NXT UK Women’s Wrestling Championship. This was a much-deserved victory for Storm who has been a mainstay in British women’s wrestling for the past few years.

Speaking to WWE.Com she said:
“Where do I begin? I’ve just become the NXT UK Women’s Champion and I won the Mae Young Classic to get this opportunity. I could have gone for the RAW title, I could have gone for the SmackDown [title], I could have gone for the NXT [title], but I chose the NXT UK Women’s Championship because I love this brand and I’m gonna do anything in my power to step it up because it deserves the best women’s division and that’s exactly what I’m gonna do.”
“The Mae Young Classic – you’re right, it changed everything about me. I fought some of the toughest women in the world, right after a back injury. When bad things happen to you, you become a different person, you become a dangerous person, but you become a better person and sometimes you become NXT UK Women’s Champion.”

We can’t wait to see who will challenge Toni Storm next, a recent WWE survey asked the question whether defeated champions should immediately get a rematch so we don’t yet know if Rhe Ripley will be the one to get the first shot at the new champion. One thing is for sure, it is great for British women’s wrestling to have the WWE NXT Women’s Champion being someone who has done so much to put the British scene one the map.
Toni Storm appeared for the Bombshells previously with memorable matches against Ruby Radley and here against Lana Austin for the British Bombshell’s title:
